Spring Into Learning: What We’re Loving Right Now

All of this talk about April showers and spring learning reminds me that spring is hands-down one of my favorite seasons for homeschooling.

Maybe it’s the energy shift that happens when the sun finally shows up.
Maybe it’s the fact that we can take lessons outside.
Maybe it’s just that we’ve all survived another Maine winter, and the relief is palpable. 😅

Whatever the reason, spring brings a natural momentum, and I love leaning into it.

Here are a few things we’re loving for spring homeschooling this year:

Get outside. Seriously. Nature study doesn’t have to be fancy. A walk, a journal, and a magnifying glass can unlock an entire science lesson. These spring homeschool resources are a great place to start if you want more ideas.

Go deeper with Earth Day. April 22 is right around the corner, and it’s the perfect opportunity to turn a single day into an entire unit study. I have an Earth Day unit study post that is perfect for making learning simple!

Finish strong. If your school year is winding down and you’re feeling the end-of-year slump, you’re not alone. I’ve written about finishing the homeschool year strong, and it’s one of my favorites, because this time of year, we all need a little encouragement to keep going (and sometimes, permission to change course).

Ask the real questions. Spring also brings the classic “Are we behind?!” anxiety. If that question is nagging at you, head over to this post where I answer it honestly (spoiler alert: you’re probably doing better than you think.)
