About Me

Hey there, I’m Kelly!

My name is Kelly and I am so excited that you found my little corner of the internet known as Hope In The Chaos. This website was created with you in mind, my friend, and contained within the pages, posts, and products here you will find a plethora of help, hope, and humor to help you with your faith, family, and homeschool.

My family and I live in the beautiful state of Maine where I spend most of the year freezing (your girl was built for sunshine & warm weather… sadly, Maine is a chilly climate!). My husband and I met in high school and have been married for more than 20 years. We have four amazing children, who are significantly older than the picture shows, plus multiple cats & dogs.

There was a time when we, like many families, sent our children off to school, but life gave me the opportunity to bring them home and I took it! After more than a few bumps and bruises, more than a few tears, and a significant number of newbie errors, we slowly found our rhythm and gained confidence as a homeschool family.

Today, I am a stay-at-home Mom turned homeschooler, turned work-at-home mom who is a homeschooling fanatic, a reader of all things literature, and the official chaos coordinator of our home – and I wouldn’t have it any other way!

From Dream To Hope

Several years ago, as a busy homeschooling mom up here in nowhere Maine, I felt drawn to start writing.

It began after I attended a Women of Faith conference and ended with a weekend spent churning out the words that were on my heart (more than 10,000!).

Yet, it didn’t feel quite right… the idea of sharing my thoughts, experiences, and opinions felt far too personal and more than a bit terrifying… so I let it slide and kept doing the Mom thing and the homeschool thing… oh, and the ignoring God thing (but that’s a whole other story).

Eventually, He caught my attention, dropped a firestorm of ideas and plans into my head and my heart, and before I knew it Hope In The Chaos went from “what-if” to “reality”.

So now, after I finish up with the homeschool tasks and the family tasks, and the Mom tasks, I get to spend some time working on the hope tasks. Building up hope in Moms just like you, who all over the world who are struggling day in and day out, bombarded with a myriad of their own tasks and feeling overwhelmed. Moms who are trying their best to grow their faith, raise their families, and educate their children… yet they can’t shake the feeling that every day is a little more hopeless than the previous one.

My friend, I am not an expert in hope, but I am one who knows it is out there. Hidden somewhere at the bottom of a laundry basket or beneath the stacks of dirty dishes – we just have to look. We have to train ourselves to see it because the world will tell us otherwise.
