You know we love using books in our homeschool, and I will never tell you to pass on a book, but when you are choosing rhyming books for kindergarten and little learners, there are a few key things to keep in mind.

Look for the classics! You know, a Dr. Seuss book, Brown Bear, and the Chica-Chica series are always favorites among pre-k and kindergarten-age students. They are simple to read, fun, engaging, and filled with great pictures.
Look for rhyming books with great illustrations! The illustrations help bring the child in and give both additional details and context clues. Sometimes we skip over the images as grownups, but for our children, they are a vital part of the story.
Look for books that spark interest! Your children’s favorite books are going to be the ones that spark their interest, have them curious to learn more, and encourage them to turn the next page. Perhaps it’s a funny book, something about a construction site, or simply a hilarious book about a silly llama.
