We see this everywhere! Whether it’s at a fast food restaurant, in a movie theater, or even at our local homeschool co-op, everyone seems to be chatting about measurable items, equating them to success.

But what if success was something different?

What if, instead of measuring the number of pages completed or the speed at which we finish a lesson, we look internally for success?

What if, instead of adding pressure to perform, keep up, or impress during the holidays, we look for smiles and joy?

And what if, instead of making the holidays busier than they already are with added activities and traditions, we simply look to simplify the season so we can enjoy it rather than survive it?

If you can’t tell, I’m a little tired of the status quo. A little over the pressure to justify what we do in our homeschool to a world that questions my ability to teach my children.

Over the last two weeks, Homeschooling Through The Holidays has brought you some amazing pieces of content, filled with so many ideas, tips, and tricks.

Whether that’s adding in Christmas tradition unit studies or hymn studies, planning ahead so you can reduce holiday stress and find space in your calendar for a fun advent calendar experience or two, or figuring out how you can relax during the holidays, this holiday homeschooling series has something for everyone.

Really. It even has holiday activities for little learners plus holiday tips just for Christmas.

And we are just getting started!

Most importantly though, for you, hosting this holiday homeschooling series has helped me realize that it’s ok to be bold enough to tell you the biggest secret to homeschooling success: be courageous.

Really? That’s the secret?!

Yes, my friend. Be courageous.

Try the new advent calendar. Create a new meal plan that frees you up a couple of nights per week.

Add in unit studies or read holiday-themed books.

Take time off so you can bake holiday cookies or catch a seasonal show.

Pause the regular lessons so you can decorate the house or volunteer.

And be sure to soak up every moment this holiday season, even if that’s a movie by yourself after the kids are in bed.

Homeschooling Through The Holidays

Over the last two weeks (and for two additional weeks), my fellow homeschool bloggers and I have been working hard to bring you some of the BEST tips & tricks for holiday homeschooling success.

We call this joint-venture blog series Homeschooling Through The Holidays, and the aim is super simple: to help you make holiday homeschooling simple.

Because let’s face it, the world and our lives, well, they have enough chaos in them… and that chaos brings stress and strife and challenges.

Simplicity, however, gives us the opposite.

Simplicity gives us breathing room. It allows us homeschool moms a chance to think and perhaps even drink a cup of coffee. Maybe even while it’s still hot!

Simplicity brings peace as well learn what to do and how to do it, and even when to delegate or quite frankly, let it go. It gives us permission to serve leftovers guilt free because we actually planned a leftover night to help our budget and our sanity.

And simplicity creates order as we work through the many tasks and duties we have during the year, a job that is even larger as the holiday season approaches.

And homeschooling success is all about simplifying our learning, leaving room for wonder and exploration, and enjoying the time I have with my children, who seem to grow faster with each passing day.
