Keep reading for all the details!

What Is Homeschooling Through The Holidays?

Started in 2022, Homeschooling Through the Holidays is a collaborative blog series featuring some amazing homeschool bloggers and some of their best holiday homeschooling tips.

For some, that means sticking to routine because kids need homeschool systems just as much as us mamas do.

For some, that means ditching the formal lessons in exchange for some great ways to homeschool in December.

And for others, it’s something different like holiday crafts, calendars, and seasonal opportunities that only come around once a year.

Either way, homeschooling through the holidays can be a joyous time, especially with ideas like the ones our contributors have for us this year!

How Does The Holiday Homeschool Series Work?

Starting today, November 18, 2024, and running through Friday, November 29, 2024, you will find one new post added to our series each day, except for Thanksgiving Day.

These posts come from a wide variety of amazing homeschool mamas just like yourself. They are some of the homeschool blogs and brands you already love – and you may even find a new blog or two as well.

Each post will be hosted here, on Hope In The Chaos, and it will share the author’s unique tip, technique, or tried-and-true holiday homeschooling tip.

Your First Holiday Homeschooling Tip

The whole point of the Homeschooling Through The Holidays series is to provide you with usable tips & tricks that will make holiday homeschooling simple.

But rather than make you wait until tomorrow for tip #1, I thought I’d share my favorite holiday homeschooling tip right here.

Breathe.

Just breathe.

When it feels like too much.

When it’s too overwhelming.

When the kids are running wild due to sugar, artificial food coloring, too many late nights, or simply fueled with the excitement that only a child can have.

Breathe.

Breathe and take a break and remember that this is just one season in a year.

One season in a lifetime full of seasons and years.

One season that feels like it’s too much because sometimes we allow it to be.

So when it gets to be too much, breathe. Bake something. Color something. Watch a movie. Go for a drive and look at the lights. Head outside and make a snow angel or dig out the construction paper and make paper snowflakes.

Breathe and let go of the pressure, the standards, and the idea that each day, each holiday, must be perfect.

Breathe and give yourself permission to be as simple or extra as works for you and your family.

    1. Jodi,
We all love supporting the homeschool community and working together to give a little extra this time of year as much a blessing for us as it is for the winning families. Best of luck, friend. ๐Ÿ™‚

  2. Thank you for the timely reminder to enjoy the holidays and my kids. I can easily stress out over what I โ€œshouldโ€ get done and miss the opportunities to just enjoy being with them. I know in my head simple is good but it is good to be reminded before the rush starts that it is ok to slow down and say no.

    1. Angel,

We all know it, but we all need to be reminded. Whether it’s social media or a friend who just always has it together, the pressure to perform is extremely high, especially this time of the year… and all that pressure does is steal the joy and zap any amount of merry we can muster up.

Have a fabulous holiday season, friend!
      -Kelly
