Why My Kids Love Teaching Textbooks (and yours will, too!)

While many homeschool families struggle with teaching math, ours is not one of them. I’ve worked hard to build a fantastic math foundation and surround my children with the tools, resources, and curricula that help them develop their confidence while they also work to improve their math skills.

So, forgive the typos and potential grammatical errors because this post is about to be taken over by my 4th and 8th graders.

What I Love About Teaching Textbooks: A Kids’ Perspective

My Daughter’s Thoughts

I like doing math on the computer. Teaching Textbooks lets me use my headphones and I can watch the video. The video teaches me things and then I do the work. The work is pretty easy and I love getting stickers! I change the stickers so I only get the pretty ones that I like.

Oh, and I have a buddy! I picked the cute little kitty cat because she was the best!!! She helps me do my math and gives me hints when I get stuck.

Math is fun on the computer and I like using Teaching Textbooks to learn math.

My Son’s Thoughts

Math on the computer is better than using a textbook. The videos make it pretty easy to learn and I like that I can watch it again if I didn’t get it the first time. I like that I can actually learn my math.

With Teaching Textbooks, I can do my math assignment any time of the day, even if Mom isn’t around to help. I can just start the lesson and watch the video. Then I do the work and I’m done. Somedays we are busy, so I take my math with me on my tablet. I’d rather take the day off, but I guess it’s better than having to do it when we get home.

I like seeing how many questions I have left and that I can do the questions out of order or skip one that’s really hard. Sometimes if I keep going something will click later and I can go back.

Sometimes the hints are helpful. I did like the bonus rounds in the easier levels math levels. They were always fun and helped me earn extra points.

What Else Do The Kids Say?

While I only have two children in our homeschool this year (the older two have since graduated from our homeschool), I thought I’d share a bit of what they thought of Teaching Textbooks. After all, they used the program longer than the younger two, and as graduates, they can share a post-high school perspective.
