The Best Bible Verses for Mom this Mother’s Day
Mother’s Day is right around the corner and while our children and husbands scramble to find us just the right gift, how about we pause to see just what a gift God says we are by taking a look at some of the best Mother’s Day bible verses?

May is here and with it comes Mother’s Day. Celebrated annually on the second Sunday in May, Mother’s Day began in 1908 and became a federally recognized holiday in the US in 1914.
And every year, my family does their best to make this day a special one. ๐
Now, I don’t know about you, but a day off with chocolates and dinner, while nice, its not what this homeschooling mama is truly looking for. Sure, it’s nice to be recognized, but honestly, there’s no greater joy in my life than being able to care for the family that God has blessed me with.
Yet sometimes, a little reminder from God’s word is just what this mama needs to stay encouraged, motivated, and working towards becoming the virtuous woman that God has called me to be.

Finding The Perfect Bible Verse
Ok, perhaps it’s a fool’s errand to find just one perfect verse, but the good news is that Scripture is full of verses that encourage, uplift, and help us women as we work to raise our children and care for our own homes.’
Which, I don’t know about you, but I need all the encouragement I can get over here.
I am doing my best to soak up all of the good things that the Bible has to offer as I work hard to raise these children and “watch over the ways of my household” in this busy life we lead.
My Bible happens to be filled with notes and highlights, many given by the wiser, older women in my life. Those who can look at me knowingly when I share the woes of raising children. Those who offer a listening ear, a kind word, and an encouraging hug as they share their sincere faith and the Word of God to strengthen me and the younger women they come into contact with.

15 Verses for Mother’s Day (KJV)

โBut I’ll warn you, this isn’t your typical list of verses, filled to the brim with the Proverbs 31 woman… no, we are digging deep into some of the lesser-known verses referencing mothers, devotion, prayer, and joy.ย
And if KJV isn’t your preference, feel free to use these anyway. Just find them in your preferred translation. ๐ย

- Genesis 3:20 – And Adam called his wife’s name Eve; because she was the mother of all living.

- 1 Samuel 1:26-27 – And she said, Oh my lord, as thy soul liveth, my lord, I am the woman that stood by thee here, praying unto the Lord. For this child I prayed; and the Lord hath given me my petition which I asked of Him;

- Ephesians 6:1-2 – Children, obey your parents in the Lord: for this is right. Honour thy Father and Mother; which is the first commandment with promise;
- 2 Timothy 1:5 – When I call to remembrance the unfeigned faith that is in thee, which dwelt first in thy grandmother Lois, and thy mother Eunice; and I am persuaded that in thee also.
- Titus 2:4 – That they may teach the young women to be sober, to love their husbands, to love their children,
See, I told you it wasn’t your mother’s list of verses. ๐

The Proverbial Wife & Mother
The Proverbial wife & mother of Proverbs 31. The woman whose “heart of her husband doth safely trust in her (vs 11).” The woman whose worth is “far above rubies (vs 10).” And the woman who is clothed in “strength & honor.”
She’s a lot to live up to, this woman of strength described to a king by his very own mother.
A wife of noble character, a mother of kindness & patience, and a generous woman with both her family and her community.
Filled with God’s love, this woman is the pinnacle of what many of us are called to, and yet, she feels so out of reach. So perfect with her quiet spirit, her busy hands, and her well-maintained home. Timeless with her kind words and compassionate heart all the days of her life.
And yet, earlier in Proverbs, there is another wife & mother (perhaps you caught her in the list of Mother’s Day verses above?). A wise woman who is so full of life that she builds her home, followed quickly by a foolish one who destroys her home with her own hands.
If you, my friend, are caught somewhere in between the wise woman of Proverbs 14:1 and the foolish one, while also trying to strive for to be a wife & mother like Proverbs 31 woman, let me invite you to join me in Becoming A Wise Woman. This 10-day home study is just what you need to find true wisdom as a wife & mother.
A Mother’s Love
As wives and mothers, we know we are needed. Our families depend on us from sun-up to sundown to aid, care for, watch over, guide, and teach. Most days, we love tirelessly caring for our husbands and our own children, and other days, we wrestle with our sin as we find ourselves short-tempered, impatient, and stressed.ย
But overall, we know how unbelievably blessed we are to have dirty faces to wash, messy hair to brush, and skinned knees to kiss.ย
We are fully aware that Mother’s Day is a lovely gesture, but honestly, it wouldn’t even be possible without the children who call us “mom” in the first place.ย
Happy Mother’s Day, my friend! No matter how you choose to celebrate it, I do hope you enjoy your day.
