As a homeschool family, we love books, and our house reflects that. With bookshelves in nearly every room, including hallways, there’s always a new title to explore. Whether they are easy readers, rhyming books, or chapter books, there’s no reason not to have something to read.

And while it’s always exciting to read a book, diving into extended adventures with the same characters through a book series is always a win!

The Appeal of a Chapter Book Series

There’s something about getting to know a character and watching them grow through an undeniably captivating chapter book series.

Sure, some authors challenge your idea of which direction a character should go, but let’s face it, we all love a good twist. And what better way to take a character through multiple twists and turns than to follow them through a series of chapter books spanning years or even decades?

Homeschool With Chapter Book Series

While using books in our homeschool is one of our favorite ways to learn, there are many times we read just one book from a chapter book series. After, the kids are free to decide if they’d like to continue.

I know many homeschoolers enjoy using a multi-book series for their school read-alouds, (with many choosing to finish the entire thing) but in our home, we find that reading just one of two in the series is plenty for us.

Often, however, I do catch the kids devouring the rest of the series on their own.
