{Thank you Homeschool Diploma for providing the 8th Grade Diploma for this review.}

Most kids love to receive recognition for a job well done. Whether it’s a pat on the back, a trophy, or even a celebratory dinner it doesn’t really matter. Kids love to receive recognition – and when it’s earned there is nothing wrong with that. But sometimes homeschooled kids miss out on a big part of the formal recognition for graduating. Many of these kids simply finish school and move on to the next phase of life. Graduation though is more than just finishing school and for many a diploma is as much a right of passage as finishing that last final exam.

So where do homeschoolers turn when it comes time to graduate their student? Do we try to give them a little of the pop and circumstance associated with graduation or do we just tell them “great job” and send them on their way? Me? Well, I’d like to give my kids something a little more tangible. Something they can be proud of for earning and display.  So for us, an 8th grade diploma from Homeschool Diploma is just the thing to make this happen.

When this particular vendor first came up I honestly did not think my 8th grader would want to participate. And seeing he was the only one in our home to meet the criteria. I expected an easy out.

However, he was quite interested and didn’t hesitate to inform me he wanted this. I guess it makes sense though when you think about it. This diploma will show he has completed 10 years of school (counting both pre-k and kindergarten) and he is about to embark on the last four years.

For him, it’s something he can display that acknowledges his accomplishments so far. He has worked really hard all throughout his education to learn and apply what he has learned. Having a diploma is a great way to commemorate that achievement.

Ordering With Homeschool Diploma

Once we were selected we were sent a link to order. We landed on this page to start the process of ordering an Eighth Grade 7″ x 9″ deluxe diploma with cover.homeschool diploma, high school diploma, middle school diploma, 8th grade diploma, homeschool graduates, homeschool graduation, homeschool, hope in the chaos

The first thing we needed to decide on what the seal. There are three options to choose from and all three are an embossed foil. (High school graduates do have more options here.) From there we selected his name and you can choose from first and last only, first, middle, and last, or first, middle initial, and last. The choice is completely up to you and your graduate.

The third step is to complete your school information. For homeschoolers who name their homeschool, you can use that. If you don’t have a homeschool name you can come up with something. Ours is The Academy of Excellence. While we are not required to name our homeschool, the kids and I did when we first started. It was just something fun to do, and I am glad we did.

Following this, you can customize some of the wording of your graduate’s diploma. For us, our options were “from the Eight Grade level” or “From Junior High School Department.” High school graduates have several different options for this wording section.

From here you can decide to include a verse or motto. Homeschool Diploma offers three standard verses from scripture here or you can choose to add your own for a small additional charge. High school students can choose from three scripture verse, three quotes from historical figures, or add their own for an additional charge.

Selecting the date of graduation was an interesting stop for my son and I as we are unsure of when our school year will end this year. We selected a date for mid-June which should give us plenty of time to wrap up this year.

At this point, we were almost done customizing his diploma, but we did still have a few more decisions to make. The type of paper it would be printed on, if he earned any honors recognition, and what he wanted the cover of his diploma to look like. From here we simply selected out shipping options and waited for the mail.

We placed our order and in less than a week the diploma arrived. It was sealed in plastic with a shipping label that detailed all of the options we had selected.

The cover of the diploma was exactly as the website showed. Opening the front cover was a small directional card instructing us on the best way to add signatures to the page as well as how to contact the company if errors were found. We removed the acetate paper and found the quality of the diploma, emblems, seals, and embossing to be excellent. The additional plastic covering that overlays the diploma sheet ensures he can display this diploma proudly while he works to earn his next one.

If your family is getting ready to graduate a student and would like to order them a diploma, I recommend you check out Homeschool Diploma.
